  • Taxonomy


    The holotype of Glyphodes telphusalis Walker, 1859: 974 from Sarawak is in the UM Oxford.

    Syn. Bocchoris albilunalis Wileman, 1911: 381, pl. 31, fig 12. TL Japan, Yoshino. Syn. n. (Shibuya 1928: 31);

    MS syn. Bocchoris fazanalis Swinhoe 1906: 288. TL India (Khasia Hills). Ms syn. n. (LepIndex card).

    syn. Heterocnephes reniferalis Snellen, 1890b: 616) TL Sikkim. Syn. n. (Hampson 1898: 248). The male type is in Leiden;

    syn Glyphodes uncinalis Pagenstecher 1884: 273. Syn. n. (Shibuya 1927: 98).

    ssp. ricinalis Snellen, [1900] 1899: 70, 74 [orig. a ssp. of reniferalis Snellen 1890].

  • Description


    Wing Length: 10mm. This purple-grey, black and white sp. is readily identified by its FW patterning, with a narrow white band antemedianally and a large ‘B’ shaped white patch at the post median position.

    India (Assam, Sikkim), Burma, W.Malaysia, Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak, Kalimantan Berat, Kalimantan Selatan,, Amboina, Irian Jaya, PNG, Solomon Is., Australia. Salayer, Sulawesi, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan. Lowland forest primary, secondary forest and cultivated areas; <650m.
