Roxita subapicella Shaffer MS name; PED 5

  • Taxonomy

Roxita subapicella ia a specimen in the NHM from Brunei, (Bkt Pagon).
*In the NHM are several Roxita sp. labeled as holotypes [probably by Shaffer] but we cannot find any publication ref. associated with them. Until this is clarified we are treating those names as Shaffer- MS names.

  • Description

Wing length: 6mm. The falcate FW is fulvous and in most respects the patterning and colour is very similar to Roxita mululella Gaskin, 1984 with the exception that there is no blue on the wings. The antemedian line is not pale bluish and it has virtually no black scale patches except those bordering the lines. It differs from the extremely similar Roxita apicella Gaskin in that median line ends at the median position on the distal margin and does not angle outwards to the median position. See Roxita sp. 1 which may be the same sp.
