Taxonomy

Description

40mm. The wings of this reddish-brown species are speckled with darker brown spots with a darker red-brown diagonal median fascia on the FW and an antemedian fascia on the HW. Little variation was seen in the NHM series but Whalley (1976) reported a few paler specimens. Superficially it resembles S. cinnamomea but that lacks the median fascia. The genitalia are distinctive.

Sulawesi. Lowland and lower montane forest; 460-1370m.
