Taxonomy
The holotype of Glyphodes itysalis Walker, 1859: 501, from Sarawak is in UM Oxford. Comb. n. to Agrioglypta (Shaffer et al., 1996).
Syn. Glyphodes piepersialis Snellen, [1880]: 68. The male lectotype from Sulawesi (Ring Kiang, Loelons) is in the RMHN, Leiden.
A. malayana (Butler, 1880) was considered to be syn. but Shaffer considered it a good sp. Ms stat. rev. (Shaffer 1990, LepIndex card note). -
Description
Wing length : 13mm. Very similar to A. excelsalis but in this sp. the submedian of two white patches on the FW is narrowly triangular and the larger post median one is produced into a sharp 'beak' near the marginal area. The HW has a large white basal area and margins with brown and irridescent purplish submarginal bands. Agrioglypta sp. 5 and A. malayana are very similar but have a less evident ‘beak’.
