Herdonia titan Inoue, 2001;   Plate 4;   not Borneo

Taxonomy

Holotype Philippines, Malinao, Tayabas. The holotype of Herdonia titan Inoue 2001 from the Philippines (Dinagat Is. Malinao Inlet), is in the NHM (Mi7448), NHM genitalia slide #20770. It is only known from the single female type specimen. Inoue (2001) places it in the Herdonia section of laminate antennae based on the wing patterning and the antennal structure resembling the femaleH. osacesalis. (Inoue 2001: 302, 304 & figs.).

Description

69mm. As the name suggests this is one of the largest Herdonia. The antennal lamellae are about half the width of the shaft, slightly longer than in H. osacesalis. The wing shape is more similar to H. sundana than H. osacesalis and the grey band crossing the FW cell is shorter and narrower. The HW has subbasal and postmedian double lines which appear thicker than in H. osacesalis because of their proximity. In H. osacesalis the postmedian double lined fascia gradually expands posteriad and is widely separated at the inner margin.
