Taxonomy

Holotype, Hwy IIa, Simalungen, N Sumatra. The holotype of Herdonia erectilinea Inoue, 2001 from N. Sumatra is in the NHM (Mi7447).

Description

42mm. The falcate FW is pale brown near the Costa and the inner margin. The HW apex is pronounced with the termen weakly rounded. It has a pale brown marginal area, a darker brown sub-marginal band and two dark brown lines which form the edges of a median band that widens towards the inner margin. There is a broad brown subbasal fascia. Both the postmedian and subterminal fasciae are broader than those of the more red-brown H. striolata. The male antennal lamellae are about as long or a little longer than the width of the shaft. The frons is a dark red-brown white ventrally.

Distribution & Habitat

N. Sumatra. Lowland to upper montane, <1600m.
