Taxonomy
The holotype of Oligostigma excisalis Snellen [1901] 1900: 289, pl. 16, fig. 9, from Java is in Leiden.
syn. Oligostigma auropunctalis Hampson 1903 var. javanica Strand, 1914. TL Java (Arjuno). (Described twice by Hampson 1903: 210 & 1907: 466). Syn. n. (Speidel & Mey 1999).
As a temporary measure Speidel & Mey (1999b) transferred the sp. to Eristena Warren, 1896. -
Description
Wing length: 8mm. Typical Eristena colouration and general patterning. A pale fulvous sp. with lighter bands on the FW which has a markedly angled, almost straight, termen. The falcate HW has a broad, dull white median band with three very small dark spots with an adjacent slightly larger white spot at the tornus.

Distribution & Habitat
India (Tamil Nadu), Bhutan, Sabah, Kalimantan Selatan, Java. Lowland streams near secondary forest & cultivated areas; 460-480m.
