On the FW there is a v-shaped patch near the apex, a further small white patch at the apex and a small dark spot on the termen just below the apex. The HW has a diffuse edged dark transverse median band. The colour can fade to a very pale brown. This species may be a ssp. of C. comparalis with darker speckles. It is the only morphotype of the C. atripunctalis-comparalis group found by TMW around Danum Valley. Schulze has found the typical C. atripunctalis in hill forest near to Poring Hot Springs.
