  • Taxonomy


    The holotype of Botys adhaesalis Walker, 1858: 664, is from Sri Lanka.

    Syn. Botys aeclusalis Walker 1858: 686. TL Sarawak is in U. M. Oxford;

    syn. Botys teutalis Walker, 1859: 690. TL Sarawak is in U. M. Oxford.

  • Description


    Wing Length: 12mm. This dark brown sp. has few wing markings, just a faint curved post median line on FW & HW and a few darker spots on the FW including a stigma. Note the shape of the FW and HW post median lines which curve smoothly to the wing edges. See Bradina admixtalis Walker, 1859 which is very similar but paler. There is sexual dimorphism with males having longer abdomens.

    Madagascar, Sri Lanka, India (S), Singapore, Sabah, Kalimantan Selatan, Bali, China. Lowland. Primary & secondary forest and cultivated areas; <580m.
